Headline Earnings And Dividends

- Headline earnings up 8,3%

The directors have resolved to declare dividend number 36 of 85 cents (2005: 67 cents) per share for the year ended 30 June 2006. This represents a total  dividend of 153 cents (2005: 123 cents) for the year and a dividend cover of 2,0 times (2005: 2,0 times) by adjusted headline earnings.

- Headline earnings up 34,5%

The directors have resolved to declare dividend number 34 of 67 cents (2004: 51 cents) per share, making a total dividend of 123 cents (2004: 97 cents) per share for the year ended 30 June 2005. This dividend represents a dividend cover of 2,0 times (2004: 1,9 times) by headline earnings.

16th August 2004

- Headline earnings up 41,0%

The directors have resolved to declare dividend number 32 of 51 cents (2003: 35 cents) per share, making a total dividend of 97 cents (2003: 75 cents) per share for the year ended 30 June 2004. This dividend represents a dividend cover of 1,9 times (2003: 1,7 times) by headline earnings.

19th August 2003

- Headline earnings up 25,8% on a restated basis
- Headline earnings, prior to the restatement, declined by 2%

The directors have resolved to declare dividend number 30 of 35 cents (2002: 35 cents) per share, making a total dividend of 75 cents per share for the year ended 30 June 2003. This dividend represents a dividend cover of 1,9 times (2002: 1,6 times) by headline earnings.

19th August 2002

- Headline earnings increased by 33,6% to R277,2 million.

The board has proposed a final dividend of 35 cents per share, making a total dividend of 70 cents per share for the year.This compares with a total dividend of 53 cents per share in the previous year and represents a dividend cover of 2,0 times by headline earnings (2001: 2,0 times).

Since the final dividend will be declared subsequent to the year-end, and to comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (AC107), it has not been provided for in the annual financial statements.
