
A wonderful world of superior wines awaits you at the foot of the historic Papegaaiberg on the outskirts of Stellenbosch.
The Bergkelder was built in 1968 into the Papegaaiberg, from which it derives its name. The cellar was the first mountain cellar in the country and was named after the annual clay pigeon shoot, held to commemorate the birthday of Governor Simon van der Stel in the late 1700s.
Under these perfect conditions, thousands of bottles of Stellenryck, Fleur du Cap and other fine wines from the Cape are laid down to mature. Old carved vats which bear carvings of various famous Cape wine landmarks add to the tranquil atmosphere.

ootbridge visitors reach the state-of-the-art Visitors Centre where they can view the Stellenryck Museum Collection and experience the origins of winemaking at the Cape of Good Hope.
