The Stellenzicht farm is situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain between Stellenbosch and the Atlantic Ocean, in the prime wine-growing area known locally as the Golden Triangle.

The history of Stellenzicht dates back as far as 1692, when it was part of a much bigger farm granted to its first owner, Barendt Hendrikse, who named the property Rustenburg.

In 1981 Hans-J Schreiber acquired a part of the old Rustenburg farm, then called Alphen, from the Bairnsfather-Cloete family who also owned the Constantia wine estate and produced the famous Constantia wines. It was Hans Schreiber who renamed the Alphen farm Stellenzicht ("view of Stellen-bosch") Vineyards.

An extensive replanting programme was immediately implemented to provide the farm with the best clonal material. The building of a modern cellar followed to produce a range of red and white wines to their maximum quality.

In 1985 Hans Schreiber bought the well-known historic estate of Neethlingshof. Stellenzicht and Neethlingshof came home in one stable.

Since 1999 Stellenzicht is owned by Lusan Holdings (Pty) Ltd, a joint venture between Distell and Hans-J Schreiber. The joint venture is responsible for the farming activities and the production of the wine, and markets and sells its products exclusively through Distell.

How To Get There

From Cape Town to Stellenbosch via the N1
When travelling on the N1 from Cape Town towards Somerset West, take the R304 off-ramp from the N1 and proceed to Stellenbosch. On the outskirts of Stellenbosch, at the 1st traffic lights opposite the Stellenbosch golf course, turn right into Blaauwklippen Road. Travel along this road for approximately 4 km after which it will become a gravel road. After a further 1 km turn right at the 1st major intersection, still on the gravel road. After a short disctance the Stellenzicht entrance gates will be visible on the left.

From Cape Town to Stellenbosch via the N1
Travelling from Cape Town in the direction of Paarl, take the R304 off-ramp from the N1 and proceed to Stellenbosch. When entering Stellenbosch, turn right at the second set of traffic lights after the bridge and proceed over 2 sets of traffic lights to where the road forks right to Kuilsrivier/Cape Town. Proceed along the left-hand fork towards Somerset West. On the outskirts of Stellenbosch, at the 4th traffic lights opposite the Stellenbosch golf course, turn left into Blaauwklippen Road. Travel along this road for approximately 4 km after which it will become a gravel road. After a further 1 km turn right at the 1st major intersection, still on the gravel road. After a short disctance the Stellenzicht entrance gates will be visible on the left.
